The following information and links are provided to assist those that missplaced the original floppy disks that came with their 4200(s). Or for those that don't have floppy drives in the computer that will be used to transfer files to the 8591C.
Click here to Install DLPComm (This is a link to 8591dlp.exe, a 1.84 MByte program that, when run, will install the program DLPComm on your computer.)
Click on the link and either run 8591dlp.exe directly or download it to a folder on your computer and run it from there. It will automatically install DLPComm in your computer. To run DLPComm click start, then All Programs, then DLPComm.
Once DLPComm is installed, use the following procedure to transfer the necessary files to the 8591C.
1. Connect the serial communications cable between the 8591C and the serial port of your computer. If in doubt about the cable, here is a link to its pin-out 8591C Serial Cable Pin-out
2. If necessary, turn on the analyzer, then press Preset.
3. Locate and start the DLPComm program on your computer.
4. Click on [CommPort], then [Properties….]
5. Set [Comm Port] to one available on your computer, [Speed] to 9600, [Data Bits] to 8, [Parity] to None, [Stop Bits] to 1, [Flow Control] to None and [Echo] to ON.
6. Click [OK,] then Click [CommPort] again, then [PortOpen]
7. To check for proper operation: type "IP" in the text box, then press Enter on your keyboard. This should cause the 8591C to reset itself. When finished go on to step 8.
8. Click on [File], then [Transmit File]
9. Transmit the following files to the 8591C in this order; they are located in the directory where DLPComm was installed: To verify that the files are being transmitted, watch the 8591C screen each time you click on [Transmit File], the display should pause briefly each time [Transmit File] is clicked.
